If you have spent the time to really choose or create a great tattoo design you'll want it to look great forever. There are a couple things that will help you maintain nice vibrant tattoos for a long time such as: using sunscreen and basic skincare. Your skin is the canvas. So, the better you take care of your skin, the better your tattoos are going to look. However, even the most diligent tattoo caretakers will eventually need to touch up their tattoos. Probably about every 10 years or so is a good plan for retouching your body art. I would say that this is a commonly neglected practice. A touch-up isn't likely going to cost you near as much as a brand new tattoo. They also don't take as long to do since the artist doesn't have to make a stencil. There's really no reason not to keep your tattoo designs looking fresh for a lifetime.
